No commentsBack in Action
After a long time away, I am back in action now.
This past summer I took on the new web site release, which you can now find at http://www.everettcc.edu and also teaching Computer Programming 120 - Beginning Web Design.
The new web site release went off well. It took a period of time to update bookmarks, correct links, update content on division pages, fix template configurations, but it is up and running. We have received many postive comments about the site. I hope to continue adding features that will enhance the site to be more user friendly. You can also stay up on the news and events through the RSS feeds I created at http://www.everettcc.edu/rss/
The summer quarter of CP 120 went well. It was a busy and accelerated class since it was 11 weeks of information pushed into 8. Many students felt it was too much work, but they did learn a lot. You can check out some of their Final Web Site Projects – The one positive/negative of the class was the “Hybrid” status in which it allowed us to meet virtually online to study and turn in assignments. It did save time from coming to class, but then being motivated to work on assignments without instruction may have hindered some students.
No commentsThe New Phones are in!
Recently with a switch on campus to VoIP, IT has been involved in getting the network ready and distributing the new Cisco IP Phones. So I have some sneek peek at the new phone.
Also, I have decided to give you a quick look at the setup to connect the phone. Cisco also provided a quick reference guide.
Connection Steps:
- Connect phone cord between the phone and handset (small end to the handset)
- Connect the Ethernet cable from the wall port to the “10/100 SW” port on the bottom of the phone
- Connect the provided Ethernet cable from the phone port “10/100 PC” to the Ethernet port on your computer
- Once Configured, enter the Call Manager config code and enter the appropriate extension number
- Done!
New EvCC Design
*UNCLASSIFIED*
EvCC was first contracted back in 2001 with an outside company to create the website for the college. It met many of the needs of the college at the time, however has grown into a pain to update, communicate and provide information in an efficient manner.
Starting in 2005, the administration asked for a re-design to be developed, to provide both usability and a student centric website. Since then, the WSC has given the OK for us to go ahead and start the design and development. At this time, we are still in the site organization and layout of the site. With the help of Greg K., Sidnee W. and myself, we continue refining our results and the site will be released.. __________ (date classified).
Continue checking back for more information during this busy and exciting time for the college campus and community. Stay Close… Go Far!
Whitehorse Hall
With the new Arts & Science building in some of the last stages, I took a walk-through with some of the Visual Arts faculty on a ’sneak-peek’ tour.
The Hall is immaculate in design and many things are almost done. I loved the wide open areas and the chemistry labs the most. I was able to take a few pictures from inside. To view the gallery, click on the picture to the right. Also, you can check out the rest of the construction gallery I put together HERE!
