Business Trip (part 4) - End of the day
Day 4
So today I woke up to some distressing news on Airport security. It seems they found Terrorists in UK planning on bombing mid-flight planes on the way to the US here. They arrested 21 of the maybe 50 they suspect. The main thing they found was inert liquids that they could bring on, but once combined could be high explosive bombs. So now Homeland Security has determined a high risk of terrorism and has given the following restrictions against the following carry-ons:
· Beverages
· Shampoo
· Suntan Lotion
· Creams
· Toothpaste
· Hair Gel
· Other items of similar consistency
So when I head to Manchester airport in the morning, I will be going through long lines and heavier security from when I left Seattle. Anyways, we went through the last of our training and then had a quick talk from Bill Rodgers,
CEO. The showed, along with some of his developers, the new release coming soon for version 6.1, along with future ideas, including a search indexer/engine made to look like a simple google page. Afterwards, Ian let me know that all the ColdFusion developers are on vacation so we will have to setup a Live Meeting next week to go over that.
Nic and I waited then outside for our tour. We headed over to the business center where Ektron is taking over. It looked like about 10 business spaces, but Ektron has 3 that were ripped apart to accommodate them, along with future buying of other spaces.
Bill said they will be moving to a permanent larger structure soon to house everyone. The funny part of it, they had an old poster up for eMPower, yet I asked if we can get support for it. Ian said no in 2 ways. One, those who know it do not want to anymore. Second, some people there do not know what it is.
After the tour, I headed to another antique shop. Then I headed over to Milford to see the fun little town. I got some good shots with all the brick buildings and old country feeling.
Then Nic called and said he was in the town center of Nashua and that it was also the old brick town. So I headed over there and took more pictures. Later, I will put a gallery of all the fun pictures I took while I was over here.
I am heading off early because of the wait time in the security screening is 2+ hours in some areas. So we will see how it goes, as long as I don’t bring liquids on the plane.
